About Sam
Hi and welcome
I'm Samantha Hornery and I help parents get the right help for their child when learning is hard at school.
I trained as a primary teacher and knew early on that I could make the biggest difference with kids who don't get it the first - or second - time.
This sent me on a path I've followed my whole career to teach children and teenagers impacted by difficulties learning, culminating in completing a Doctor of Philosophy in effective reading interventions (hence Dr Samantha Hornery).
My approach is to look for the missing pieces in a child's learning, through assessment and listening really carefully - before preparing a battle plan for success through or around those learning difficulties. It doesn't matter how many children I've helped, everyone's path is a little different!
I believe in setting clear goals that are truly achievable and providing clear communication with every step. But, most importantly, being nimble I will make changes if anything's not working - I'm here for the long haul to support children for as long as they need it.
I've been tutoring for over 25 years (wow - I know!) I've helped so many children and teenagers, their families and teachers and I'm not done yet!
I am constantly asking my students to be brave and to trust themselves and now it's my turn to do that as well by expanding the ways I help.
It's been an enormous privilege to work, hand in hand, alongside so many children, teenagers, families and teachers to help make learning easier.
I simply can't wait to hear how you experience these new additions to the help I offer and your suggestions for other ways I can help, drop me a line below or subscribe for weekly updates.
